Bringing A Lifelong Practice Home to East Northport

The opening of this studio in September of 2021 fulfills a lifelong aspiration for AnnMarie McBrearty, who is thrilled to share her deep love and knowledge of yoga with her hometown community. AnnMarie's journey with yoga began while she was a student at Northport High School—finding the practice on her own long before it was offered in schools—and it was a discipline she carried with her and diligently maintained when she moved to New York City and began her formal training. As her path led her to live in several different states, her commitment to the mat never wavered; she continued to evolve by studying under a diverse range of teachers and traditions. Now, she has returned to her roots to bring that wealth of experience home and create a sanctuary for others.

A Foundation in Tradition

Her educational foundation is extensive and deeply rooted in respected traditions. AnnMarie believes that while yoga is an ancient practice, its true power lies in how it meets the needs of the individual today.

"My goal is to provide a space where the tradition of yoga feels accessible, personal, and deeply restorative for every student who walks through our doors."

The Depth of the Practice

Specialty: Anatomy-Based Alignment and Adaptability

Since returning to East Northport in 2011, AnnMarie has established herself as a dedicated local and private instructor. Her teaching is proficient across several styles—including Vinyasa, Hatha, and Alignment—all informed by the Classical Methods of the esteemed Krishnamacharya lineage. AnnMarie's true specialty lies in the anatomy of the posture. She is a firm believer that yoga should work for the body, not the other way around. By blending precise, anatomy-based alignment with creative vinyasa flow, she ensures her classes are centered on intelligent movement. Every session is safe, inspiring, and taught with a sharp individual focus, honoring the unique structure and adaptability of each student.

A Vision Realized

This studio is the culmination of years of dedication, learning, and a deep-seated desire to create a welcoming space for all. It is a vision first sparked by her early teachers and late mentor, Pamela Shannon, who encouraged AnnMarie to pursue this path back in the early 2000s. Today, AnnMarie looks forward to building a vibrant community of like-minded individuals right here in her hometown.
