Bringing A Lifelong Practice Home to East Northport
The opening of this studio fulfills a lifelong aspiration for AnnMarie McBrearty, who is thrilled to share her deep love and knowledge of yoga with her hometown community in East Northport. AnnMarie's journey began right here in high school, a practice she diligently maintained as she moved to New York City and began her formal training.
Her educational foundation is extensive and rooted in respected traditions:
200 Hour Yoga Certificate (2006):
Completed at Yoga Works NYC, training under renowned instructors including Jodie Rufty, Jenny Arthur, and Alan Finger.
500 Hour Teaching Certificate (2010):
Earned from Yoga Sutra NYC, where she honed her skills with an accomplished team of trainers, including Guta Hedewig, Jill Cammera, Edwin Bryant, Chase Bossart, and Adrienne Burke.
Since then, AnnMarie has continued her education, privileged to study in additional teacher training under influential masters like Jason Crandell, Srivatsa Ramaswami, Rodney Yee, and Todd Norian.
Specialty: Anatomy-Based Alignment and Adaptability
Returning to East Northport in 2011, she established herself as a dedicated local and private instructor. AnnMarie is proficient across several styles - Vinyasa, Hatha, Alignment, and Classical Methods - all within the esteemed Krishnamacharya lineage.
Her true specialty lies in the anatomy of the posture. She believes in teaching students how the poses work for different bodies, not the other way around. AnnMarie excels at blending anatomy-based alignment with creative vinyasa flow, ensuring classes are safe, intelligent, and inspiring, with a strong focus on adaptability and individual structure.
This studio is the culmination of dedication, learning, and the desire to create a welcoming space for all, just as one of her first teachers and late mentors Pamela Shannon encouraged her to do back in the early 2000s. AnnMarie looks forward to building a vibrant community of like-minded individuals right here in her hometown.
